This was the poster I submitted as my final for Design. The brief was very simple – create an A3 poster that speaks the visual language of your chosen era and name.
My name was The Disco Den and era was the 70′s. This one was a real challenge as I had never used Illustrator before and I had to design the whole thing from ground up, I really hit a wall with the logo and it wasnt until I got a bit more comfortable with the tools that I got this 3D box with the crazy boot high heel thing on it.
Learnt lots during this unit. Glad and sad that it’s over!
The Web banner below was the secondary component of the same assignment, the only other detail was the it was to be 120 pixels wide and feature animation that also speaks the visual language of the brief.
It was more challenging than I expected but really having done Flash before I spent more time in Illustrator constructing components and layers and then kinda just chucked it together in the 3 stages you see as it comes to rest on the clubs name.
It isn’t the best thing I ever made but it had to do because I was busy concentrating on Illustrator and trying to work out how to draw and make shapes and do gradients and work out how to bring in fonts etc.

well done Dan! I really like it, it fits the breif and is cool as a cucumber!
Thanks Miss E!
Only just realised that I never changed the font on the web banner to match the final font used on the poster, and that I spelt Roisin Murphy’s name wrong!
